Wordharvest –

            The Tony Hillerman writers conference is a five day event held at the Hyatt Regency in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This year’s focus will be on mystery writing. The one day writers’ workshops are held in Santa Fe during the months of June and July. The workshops are limited to 15 people and are for one day only.

The Tin House –

            Workshops are one week long intensive workshops, readings, seminars and panels in writing fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Held in the summer months by the editors of Tin House Magazine and Tin House Books, these workshops are for the serious writer with one on one mentoring available. Workshops are from Monday through Saturday from 10am to 12:30 pm with no more then 12 students. Manuscripts over 350 pages long will not be accepted.

Nightwriters –

            Phyllis Theroux schedules one writing retreat each year, but she also holds “Nightwriters for One” classes at her home in Ashland, Virginia.  Among her writing are: California and other States of Grace, Peripheral Visions, Nightlights and many more. She is a contributing essayist for The Newshour with Jim Lehrer and has work for The New York Times and the Washington Post. Fifth House Lodge –
            Personalized writing retreats and seminars are offered by Joan Lee Hunter, a teacher and writing coach who caters to writers of all abilities. The Key West Heritage House and Museum
And the Robert Frost Cottage –

            Built in the 1830’s by the Porter family and occupied by the Porters for almost 200 years, Key West Heritage House is a treasure trove of Key West history. One of the cottages on the property was winter home to poet Robert Frost for many years. On the grounds of the house you will find many species of flowering plants that are native to the Florida Keys and the Margaret Long Orchid Collection is also housed on the premises. Writing workshops are held during January and February.  The Robert Frost Poetry Festival is held each year. See site for more details.
